Default 2009 World Championships: 66/74/120 KG Greco Discussion

Finishing things up for the tournament tomorrow.

Sahin has Siamionov from Belarus in the first round tomorrow to start off at 66. He's on the same side of the bracket as Vachadze and the Olympic Champion from France Steeve Guenot

Lester starts things off with Madsen from Denmark. Thats a brutal draw for either guy, but it should be an absolutely phenomenal match. They're down on the bottom side of the bracket with the other Guenot who was a bronze medalist last year. Manuchar is up top.

Byers starts off with Banak from Poland. Ivanov, Anunchin, and Lopez are all on the bottom side so that topside is wide open for him.

We started doing a live broadcast of the event yesterday, and did all of it today. Focused on the USA guys, but talked most through of the session and covered most of the international matches.

We've got the Cover It Live rolling and I'm doing the audio, if my voice holds up. I've caught a cold while over here. The audio is embedded on themat.com's coverage page.

Byers will have multiple time world runner up from Hungary Deak Bardos in his next match.

Deak Bardos is apparently the guy he beat in the finals when he won his gold back in 02.

Faruk wins a tough match in two periods over the Belarussian 2-0/1-0. He has the German next.

Vachadze moves on as well at 66

Ivanov wins to move on at heavyweight, he'll wrestle Anunchin from Russia who also won his first match.

Manuchar is upset by the Japanese wrestler in 3 periods. The official gave him a point in the 3rd from parterre, but the mat judge waved it off. Manuchar had the Japanese wrestler off the mat several times with his reverse lift but couldn't finish.

Popov wins for Russia at 74 kilos, Lopez moves on for Cuba at 120.

Lester and Byers should both be up soon. With Manuchar going down this opens up that bracket even more so for the winner of Lester/Madsen.
