Asgarov vs Russian at jr. worlds. Starts off with an unnecessary close up of the referee's giant butt, but the last two periods are great with an insane scramble in the 3rd! The Asragov/Stieber final isn't bad either, I posted it on the Stieber thread in the college forum
Watch also the Russian who won at 50 kg (only his first match vs Korea is posted now). The guy has no fingers on his left hand.

Marsagishvilli vs Rubaev, 84 kg finals. What have these guys accomplished? Their names sound familiar. The poor Russian gets pinned and has a breakdown!

55 kg finals- I love Khinegashvilli's wrestling!

Marsagishvili - 3 brothers ))), all of them wrestlers. This one (Dato) and Irakli at 84, Georgi - at 74. They often show up at tourneys (Baku, Tbilisi, even at the beach worlds 2 weeks ago), so the family name shouldn't sound unfamiliar. Dato is the most successful. He wrestled in the senior Euro final vs. Urishev this year. We discused that match here - some controversial calls. A month ago, he won the jr. Euros. This was his last jr. year.
As for Rubaev, I mentioned him. )) He placed 3rd at the Russian sr. nationals a month back.

He is 82 kg, doesn't cut weight and has some problems with bigger guys. He needs some more kg.

66 kg finals Iran vs Russia. Anyone else feel like Iran got screwed? Dominates much of the match and Russia hits a front headlock that sure didn't look like 3 pts to me.

50 kg greco final- ouch! The Azeri gets his nose smashed really badly, and then they raise his hand- I'm assuming they DQ'd his opponent.

55 kg greco final. Huge headlock throw to fall!

96 kg Russia vs Iran quarterfinals
The jr. worlds is fast becoming my favorite tournament. The top guys have world-class skills but they get after it a lot more than the sr. wrestlers for the most part. On a technical note, the new things seems to be trying to throw your hips up overtop of your opponent in a scramble situation.

Akzent, I was wondering if the 84 kg Georgian was the guy who wrestled Urishev at Euro's.
My all time favorite match is now posted on youtube- the Igali/McIlravy Olympic semifinal! Interesting to hear it with American commentary instead of the Canadian commentary I have on my videocasette.
Honest question: why do some people think that McIllravy got screwed over in this match? Seems like the close calls went in his favor.

because of the close call in OT, an it was close i will admit but it was not a complete takedown imo
Best that I can tell, Daniel's knee didn't touch.
