Garcia vs Scott. I'm pleased with the result, but disappointed that Garcia still wrestles conservatively in his own gym against a smaller opponent.

Oh and for those who have not checked out this weeks "Guru Match" on flowrestling, do it now. Unbelievable bout.

I think scoreboard said 1-0, 3-2 Garcia? I'm a bit confused about the first period scoring, I thought it was either 3 or nothing on Garcia's front headlock but maybe they called it an effort throw.

I don't usually post old school matches on this thread, but DonTony98's new uploads are too good to pass up.

Scherr vs Atavov 1989 world finals

    1995 world finals:

    Jordanov vs Mohammedi

Wada vs Teedev. Match was protested and result changed to a Teedev victory. IMO the original call (Wada wins) was the correct one.

Khadem vs Khadarsev (clash of the titans)

Baumgardner vs Habelov (COT Titans 2? Not sure of the Russian's credientials.)

Based on those matches I did not post, I can safely say the mid 90's had their share of stall-fests also.

I was fortunate to be around a top notch international official and a 3 time Olympian from the time I began wrestling in high school (a rather late start compared to many).

There were some great matches in the 1995 FS worlds, and I was fortunate enough to compete there also.

To me, the Tedeev-Wada match was as plain as day. The referee miscalled the key point scoring call, it was going to be reviewed and reversed, and the winner would be reversed with Tedeev being declared the winner instead of Wada.

I told everyone around me that this would happen, since the spectators in the area were mostly American and Japanese and quite happy that Wada had apparently won.

Interestlingly, I told this to Wada's family, who was sitting right in front of me. They did not want to believe this would happen.

Some American fans were also sure that Wada would be declared the winner, and despite my detailed explanation of why this would happen and was the right call, they insisted Wada would win. When he didn't, they insisted he should have won.

Of course, we may differ on calls regarding judgement. But to me the call of the critical point scoring situation was obvious and it was inevitable that Tedeev would win.
