I will admit that Greco has always been my passision, but i will agree that internationally Greco is boring. At Nationals and Olympic Trails, people were getting throw and matches were exciting. I did not see hardly anyone trying to lift and bottom guys were cheating the par ter completley. I could not believe that guys were already off their knees facing their opponent before the whistle blow and the top guy is getting called for attention.
Since wretlers have adapted to the new rules so well, the rules will need to change to get it exciting again. Maybe they will pull a ball out of a sack to see who gets a belly to back bodylock to start-That will be high flying fun!!!

I agree. Mango got a gift in his first match with the attention calls. He was jumping out of possition before the guy had his feet set. I don't blame him for doing whatever the offical will allow.

Interesting that they took passivity away in order to reduce the number of judgement calls for the officials, and yet with this par terre start stuff they're still giving away points pretty much at random. Why not just start in the old par terre staring position instead of this manufactured and completely unrealistic starting position?

FYI, I'd love to line myself up to broadcast in 2012 ... it's some of the reason I'm moving on to a new position.

Although, even though I "know" the rules, sometimes the replays and the politics mess with us, too.

I actually like the new rules better. I competed under the old and it was terribly boring to watch and wrestle. At least a minute out of each period is remotely exciting now. All they need to do is establish concrete enforceable rules for clinch starts to take the judgement out. There is too much salesmanship going right now to try and garner attentions
