Varsity Wrestling - Disadvantage 35 lbs
So i am wrestling varsity and the starting 215 is hurt so i go up and take his place. The 189 is way to slow to wrestling 215. They have a good 30-35 lbs on me and i am goiing down to 171. I have been trying to roll kids when they hit headlocks but it figures they are kind of heavy. Any advice thanks.

Battle for position constantly on your feet and wear out the big boys. I wouldn't go under unless you're very good, o

Re: Varsity Wrestling - Disadvantage 35 lbs
This is something I actually have experience with.
My senior year I wrestled the first half of the year as a 185 pound 215, and the second half of the year as a 195 pound heavyweight.
I had two advantages that helped me win the majority of the matches that I won that year.
I was very good on top. Most of the guys that I beat I pinned, and even as I didn't pin guys I would ride hard to try and wear them out.
My other advantage has been kind of touched on by va. I was in sick cardio shape, get the big boys tired and they don't wrestle so hot.

This vid I downloaded talked about wearing the opponent down by pulling on and playing with their head. Keep doing that and by the third period rolls around, they're holding their backs. That's when you go for the shot and pin 'em.
I can give you the link if you don't mind the whole peer-to-peer thing.

If they catch you in a headlock, step in front.

My advice: Don't get headlocked.
