Have this problem as well... the last two matches especially I have found myself being hauled around. I've only wrestling one varsity match (against another sophomore) where I felt I was just as strong/stronger than the guy. I know the inclination is to be a lot less aggressive in these circumstances, but I recently found that doing the same stuff can put these guys off balance, albeit less. Shaking the guy around in a hook up that I was only in because he was too strong for me to get out well put my most recent one off balance so I could get an (albeit unsuccessful, pushed out) shot. I'm a shorter guy as well.
After my last match I've decided a few things for myself, they may help you. First of course is to pick up my lifting and over the spring/summer/fall get much stronger. Also, I decided I'm going to focus on only a few moves until I can get them on anyone. I think they will be double leg/duckunder for neutral, legs on top, and standup from bottom. I think I do too much of just whatever I think of when I wrestle, not getting that good at any one thing.
ok, well what you need to do is less worrying and more thinking......you are obviously worried and intimidated, whichc you shouldnt be...if you have more technique than him, you will win 110% of the time, just as long as you wrestle technically-smart...
first: imagine your one move, and keep thinking of you hitting this move on this kid.then once all your thinking about is hitting this one move, move onto thiking about what you can do from a top position, then think of only that one move, then once you can only think about getting the takedown with "your" move, then covering and breaking him down with your" move, consider you may have run out of time and need to go to bottom position, then start thinking about hitting one bottom move, then going to another, just so he doesnt think he knows exactly what you will hit every time, then keep thinking of those 2 moves until you cant get all four of these thoughts out of your head......its a proven fact that if you think of doing something long enough, you WILL do it exactly how you want, jsut as long as there are no external variables(nothing goes wrong) to what you were thinking of..............
once you start believing you will win, which may sound kinda "gay" or "retarded" or something, youi will win......take it from me,im a freshmen in highschool, and i wrestle jv,yet my record is 20-4 so far,and i owe all 20 wins from this season to thikning ahead of my match...this all leads up to perfecting your technique..
ps....i guarantee you that your opponent is scared
