Question about vBulletin software

No. Out of the box the application looks a lot like vBulletin.com

While much of the functionality is there, many of the major features of this board do require at least basic knowledge of php (which I supposed would generally mean you had HTML knowledge, but it isn't necessary)

What portions of the program do you need to know HTML with? Or the PHP portion?

Any part of the site you want to customize. The software works fine out of the box, much better if you know how to optimize it.

The reason I ask is because I'm considering buying it and using it as my message board software. Once you customize it, do you just buy a web address and download it to the server?

Do you run a board for the entire state of Oregon?

Yes. I currently have a free one from Topfreeforums.com

Its similar, but not near the options and you pretty much don't need to know anything about HTML code.
