Ads Dwarf Posts
Do they have to be so large? They blow out the initial post on every string.
Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.

You have a zoom problem on your browser then.
Click the CTRL key (hold it down) and then scroll down with the wheel on your mouse.

No, I'm reading the type at normal size, scrolling down just shrinks everything, requiring a magnifying glass to read. Google Ads are just uncontrollable spam, they offer absolutely no value.

I agree. As a personal thing - I never click on any kind of pop up or unsolicited ad. Scrooom. If I want it, I'll look for it.

Which is why it's the most used, most viewed, and most developed ad platform ever created... The ads on TWT use their new system of relevance, which is based on your previous google search history which makes them even more relevant than ever before.
The ads are 336 pixels wide, which means they should be only 1/3 (or less) of your screen at any resolution over 1000 pixels wide.
Here is a recent study of resolutions:
| Resolution | % of Internet Users |
| Higher than 1024?768 | 76% |
| 1024?768 | 20% |
| 800?600 | 1% |
| Lower than 800?600 | < 1% |
| Unknown | 3% |
This means that less than 2% of all people should have any problem viewing TWT unless their browser is accidentally zoomed in.
Even if the ads on 1/3 of the screen is an issue, you won't have to deal with them long. We only run ads for registered users during the summer to keep the ad revenue up. Once the season hits you get all the perks to speed up browsing that you have every other year.

Search Engine yes, adware no freakin way

So says Google. In fact, relevance is obsolete since it reflects where I've been and not where I'm going. It's showing me crap I no longer have interest in.
Relevance is a lame attempt to show me what Google thinks I want to see. eBay tried and it failed miserably. They are soooooo wrong. It's biggest marketing bamboozle ever created and your just one more that got sucked in by the capital.

1/3 is a significant dominance of the screen area to the viewer. It's obnoxious, in your face advertising which I and most others find objectionable. It clearly detracts from the value of any website. Next think you know they'll be throwin them at you in flashing glitter and neon.

It would take up 1/3 of your screen if your resolution was 1008*336 ... Assuming you're in the 97th percentile that uses a resolution of 1024?768 or higher it takes up less that 1/6 of your screen.
I bet you can find some that interest you, just look around :P
In all seriousness though, we will be playing with a lot of different layouts over the summer to see what is best. Ad revenue is important, but it's far from the most important factor. It still has to exist in some capacity so we can keep updates coming at a solid pace and remain the leader in up time at the same time.
I refuse to let the site stagnate just to be completely ad free. I think most people here would agree with that way of thinking.
