Default Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.) to switch parties

Apparently it is harder for him to get selected in a Republican primary than it is in a general election.

Just to check for understanding.....do you think it is the Republican party that is dying or the Conservatives?

Is there a difference? The Republican Party seems to have turned into the party of conservative angry white males. Whatever big tent they once had in mind is long gone now.
I am 49, bald, ugly, and don't own a single cool thing. Kids like me though.

Yes I believe there is a difference but wasn't always the case. I also don't think the GOP is a party of angry white males. I think a lot of us are angry at both the GOP and Dem leaders, but we are not only white males.

I could go on more but have to jump on a conference call.

LOL. We're not a party of angry people but...we're angry. At someone. Yep. As for the white male makeup (not that all of them wear makeup), it's overwhelming, even if not absolute. The whole world saw this at last year's GOP convention, and I'm guessing it was evident at the tea parties although I didn't go.

The U.S., today, is about 25% black and Latino. When the Republicans figure out a way to embrace these people rather than working overtime to marginalize them, they may become relevant again.

No...i said we are not a party of "angry white males" but we are "Angry" which means we are not only white males.

Yes I would agree that probably over 50% of Republicans are white males. That being said there are still many women and other minorities that are part of the party and have played a huge roll. In fact I would go out and guess that the first black president would have been a Republican if Powell would have decided to run in 2000.

I find it funny that people dog on the GOP for being nothing but White Males (which they mean in a negative way) considering everything the Republican party did for civil rights.
