Nice project in Israel but I doubt it will work
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The Renault-Nissan <RENA.PA> <7201.T> alliance on Monday signed a deal to begin mass producing electric cars as part of an Israeli-led project to develop alternative energy sources and slash oil dependency.
Renault-Nissan Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn said the cars, with a range of about 100 km in city driving and up to 160 km on the highway, will accelerate from zero to 100 kph in 13 seconds and have a top speed of 110 kph -- similar to many gasoline-powered cars.
They are trying to power this with wind and solar energy. What if the weather is not sunny one day or there is no wind?
Anyway, it seems like many people will hate to charge their cars' batteries everyday. Can you imagine the lines from everyone trying to charge them at night after work? How long does it take to charge a battery? We don't know from the article. Can be an hour. How much will each charge cost? Can be costly to charge everyday. Lots of questions unanswered in the article.
