Sully, ask your parents how they proved who you were and where you lived. There had to be a birth certificate and your parents probably had to have an ID proving that they were your parents. I know we had to have all of that. So, yes there had to be a government issued ID to enroll in school.
I got a duplicate copy of my birth certificate for $8 and I forget about my SS but it wasn't anymore that that. I want to say $5 or $6 but not over $10.
You are right, American people are guaranteed the right to vote by our constitution, so what's wrong with making sure they are the people with that right? Canadians look an awful lot like Americans and they even speak english. What is stopping them from crossing the border and casting an illegal vote if they don't have to have an ID? I'm not trying to block anyone from voting, just saying an ID is not that big of a deal to get.
Yes, people can get fake IDs, but if these irresponsible people are too lazy to get a real ID, what makes you think they will go through a much tougher process and get a fake ID?
And I do have one last question. Are felons allowed to vote? I thought I heard they weren't but I'm not sure. But if they aren't then that is another group of people that could commit fraud. If they are, then disregard that.
