Unlike much of the rest of Europe, Sweden is roaring ahead but not as Socialists any longer

In the last 12 years the USA's Percentage of Gross Domestic Production as Public Spending has gone from 35% to 42%. And while that is far from some of the "Socialist" governments of Europe, in those same 12 years, the US' Gross Debt percentage of the Gross Domestic Production has risen from 64% to almost 94%.

Sweden however, who have switched from the former Socialist policies to a more conservative approach, have reached the lowest levels of Gross Debt percentage, 49%.

And while there was no "magic bullet" (they raised the retirement age up to 67) they are well on their way to prosperity & being a model for the rest of Europe. Could what they have done work here?

It amazes me that the Obama administration wants to emulate Sweden 1968-1993 it's functional socialist years that led to the most bloated welfare state ever and to low jobless growth. The US should emulate the lessons Sweden learned in our crisis 1993. Constitutional limits on spending and deficits, abolishing regulation and privatizing on a massive scale as well as eradicating growth hindering taxes.

KR, it doesn't amaze me. Obama said that this is what he wanted to do through his entire campaign. No one can call him a liar. If anyone who voted for him don't like what he's doing, then they need to kick theirself.

I have no idea how he pulled the 08 election off. But he did. I am positive that his re-election campaign will still focus on Bush and not the fact that he hasn't solved a single problem.

Nor have we gotten out of Iraq as he promised.

To be fair, I was not nor will I ever be a fan of Bush & what he did to this country either.
