Default Al Gore admits to political pandering

This just came out. It is an article where Al Gore admits he was wrong about ethanol and that it was just political pandering. Hmmm...I wonder how long until he admits that man-made global warming was a hoax.?

Do you read these articles and take them at face value?
Can't you see how biased and attacking they are?

"First-generation ethanol I think was a mistake. The energy conversion ratios are at the best very small.?
So at the time it seemed like a good idea, but it has not worked as well as he hoped.

?One of the reasons I made that mistake is that I paid particular attention to the farmers in my home state of Tennessee, and I had certain fondness for the farmers in the state of Iowa because I was about to run for president.?
So he was listening to his constituents and admitted that Iowa has a lot of pull in the presidential elections. "Pandering" to farmers seems cuts across all party lines.

To take these statements and then to come up with:

?So more than 10 years ago, Gore supported an expensive, ?not good policy? because he thought it would help him get elected president,? the Media Research Center?s Noel Sheppard told Fox News on Monday. ?Yet the media don?t believe he?d misrepresent the threat of manmade global warming in order to become extremely rich

This sounds to me like paranoid delusional ranting. Al gore did not make up Global Warming...it is generally accepted science. Any time I have people blaming the "media" for covering a story up or twisting the truth, it makes them sound just silly and this happens as much on the left as the right.

This doesn't sound like any twisting of the truth, to me. There were other scientists saying that ethanol was not a good idea at the time he was saying it was. Now, he is admitting that they were right. Right now there are scientists who say that man-made global warming is a hoax. So, if he later comes to the same conclusion, will you say that he wasn't just doing it for his own personal gain? I think he rushed to judgement in the first case to try to win votes and he might be rushing to judgement on global warming to pad his pockets. Time will tell.

In all fairness, there is probably not a product out there that can or could illustrate the concept of "unintended consequences" better than ethanol.

I can say as an Iowan, dead in the center of the entire "movement," we were also a bit surprised at these unintended consequences of ethanol.

They're still pushing it in Iowa and we're still building ethanol plants, but there isn't as much corn production as there was when it first took off, which was THE big unintended consequence.
