TSA Screening

Ok folks, throwing it out there. Lets hear all the arguments, comments and so forth on the new TSA screening.

I am torn. First, I thought the scans were fine, but then I heard about the website in Florida that is posting people's real face picture along side their naked image. The news blurred out the private parts of the images, so I guess they are pretty explicite.

The pat downs are okay with me as long as a woman is doing it. I don't know if you get to choose who does it or not. But, I wouldn't want my wife or daughter being felt up by anyone. I also wouldn't want their naked image pasted on a website.

I definitely want to be safe, I just wish there was a way to do it better. There always seems to be some jackass screwing things up for everyone else, and in this case it seems to be the person posting the images. I suppose I would go through the scanner, but like I said, my wife and daughter are much more reserved. If they found out their pictures were being pasted on a website, I don't know how long the tears would be flowing. I just know it wouldn't be pretty around my house for a looong time!

I tend to agree. Furthermore, I would have no objection to the full body scan. I really doubt that after looking at scan after scan day after day, the agent would be particulary drawn to mine or decide that this is the one to be posted on the internet (considerable attributes notwithstanding). Besides, the person reviewing the scans doesn't see the individual being scanned or know who they are.

Even if what Quinn heard about is true, which I seriously doubt (I heard about the website in Florida that is posting people's real face picture along side their naked image.), it's no big deal to me.

I don't mind the scan either, but I understand those who do. Even though the agent wouldn't necessarily be drawn to you, think about someone in the public spotlight. I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable going through one of these if I were Sara Palin's daughters. And even though they say the screener can't see who is going through at the time, what is stopping them from having a system where the person watching them on the outside signals the person watching the screen and then they record it and it's on the website. To think that can't happen is naive and I'm pretty sure it already has, based on news reports.

Now, since we have to sacrifice during a war on terrorism, do you all support profiling? If so, where do we draw the line, if not, then I guess the statement that we all have to sacrifice isn't really true. All of this is a slippery slope and I certainly have no answers, but I can see it from all sides.

For one, profiling is illegal, so not really an option in a free country, such as ours.

Many are saying the screenings are violating our 4th Ammendment rights. And as you said, we have to make sacrifices when fighting a war on terror. Profiling won't stop everything, but neither will the scans. So why, IYO, is one okay and not the other? Like I said, I can see it from all sides, even from the people saying it is a violation of our 4th Ammendment rights. Like I said, this one isn't easy.

I don't know enough about the law to guess as to why one is ok (for now, at least) and the other is not. I'm simply reporting what is.
