This was no secret underhanded move by Obama and the Dems.

He said he was going to make change to health care all through his campaign. He won the election. He made the change. Period.

The GOP should have realized this early on and got their hands in it as much as possible. Instead they went for all-or-nothing and got nothing. They wasted months on death panel lies and other fear tactics.

I voted for McCain and I'm upset with how the Republicans played their hand.

I believe we need to reform health care to make our country stronger. I don't agree with this soon to be law, but I didn't hear any serious solutions from the GOP.

    Just sayin.

It is wrong to tap conversations of suspected terrorists, but we can force people to buy health care insurance?!? I don't get this.

    read article below from MSN:

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34609984...th-health_care

I have a sister who is a widowed single parent of 3 kids. She has multiple health problems and has been declared partially disabled. She cannot afford health care and the government refuses to insure her. She was kicked off of her medical card. (Pot calling the Kettle black)

I keep hearing how more people will not get care....Can anyone actually name a time or find a reference where someone died because they were denied treatment?

"In 2008, roughly 46 million people in the United States lacked health insurance, according to the Census Bureau. The new report estimates that currently 68 adults under age 65 die every day because they don’t have coverage. "

Exactly - I had no problem with the current system. Heck it is even better - if need care I can go to the ER, fake something if I need a script, get my script, head on down to Mexico and fill it cheap. If I really am bad off they will care for me. In both cases I can't remotely pay those bills so I will blow them off.

Something else interesting I have learned....... I haven't paid a dime on my kids bills that were above and beyond what her insurance covered (I did pay the deductable). My credit - and it has been over a year now - is still good enough where I get regular credit card offers, my current cards haven't penalyzed me, and I can still get good rates if I need to buy a car.

If others pay for this with higher rates (including me with my kids rates) then so be it. I couldn't get insurance if I wanted it until 2013 due to being hypertensive at age 49, so I have no issue with playing the system.

I am 49, bald, ugly, and don't own a single cool thing. Kids like me though.

In many cases, no one pays directly and the hospital claims it as a loss and a charitable contribution. A hospital can't turn away a true emergency, all they can do is triage the non-emergencies or urgent care cases.

Ugly, I understand the logic of opposing having the government requiring people to buy health insurance coverage, but what do you do with people who refuse to buy it on their own.
    Do you deny them treatment?
Would you let them bleed out in the street and not allow them to be admitted unless they showed insurace or cash on hand?
Has everything to do with the topic. People are trying to make choices but are only given drugs & surgery as things to decide upon.

I am not claiming that people don't get care, but I am contesting that it is a broken system for people not to get health insurance and have everyone else pick up the bill. Right now that is what happens.
