If they are a member of a terrorists organization, which I guess includes any type of organized crime, like the Mafia, there are special laws to prosecute them.
I am irritated by the extra searches at the airport and mostly because of cost/timing reasons. I don't think it is a unreasonable violation of my privacy to be searched. I have read that the extra sercurity measures are completly useless as far as increasing sercurity (the article referred to them as "security theater", staged just to make people feel better)
I used to fly somehwat frequently and was never worried about airplane hijackings/bombings. I oppose profiling dark skin / Middle Eastern people for extra searches. I do not feel threatened by somebody just becasue of their ehtnicity/religion.
I think locking up American citizens (Japanese-Americans in WWII) in interrment camps was wrong and the US government agrees with me and has paid restitution to those families. I don't believe there has ever been any evidence of any real threat from Japanese-American. I think it was a case of ouright racism. Why weren't German-Americans locked up? I know in the late thirties there were active German-American groups who were strongly supporting Nazi Germany.
Finally I think the threat of terrorism will never go away. We will be dealing with it forever, so I do not think short term radical solutions will help.
I don't understand why anyone, especially Conservatives, would be so willing to let big government come in and take away rights. There seems to be a trade-off between sercurity and freedom, and I would have thought conservative would have favored increased freedom.
