LOS ANGELES -- The wife of the city's top prosecutor has an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear in court nine years ago on charges of driving without insurance, with a suspended license and in an unregistered car.

City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo got Paris Hilton jailed for violating probation for driving with a suspended license, then condemned her early release. Now, he says he's embarrassed about the outstanding bench warrant for his wife, Michelle, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.

How can you not be aware that your driver's license is suspended?

I don't know. Maybe she never got the notice or didn't read it. Maybe it was expired.

I have not been aware of my license being suspended and when you get pulled over it sucks. Lickily the court mase a mistake and did not mail me the photo radar ticket I got so I had no idea of anything and got my license back.

How can you not be aware that your driver's license is suspended?

You're never aware of it until you get pulled over -- sometimes the notices don't arrive, get lost in the mail, or something like that.

I remember freaking out when I got pulled for speeding in Va. Beach a few years ago and then the officer says "Anything you want to tell me about your license?"

Yeah, I ended up walking 2 miles in 20 degree weather just to get to where I was going.

I know first hand it's possible to not know your license was suspended, insurance drops you, etc.
