If you go purely on stats then I think you have to throw in DiMaggio.

However, if you go on who made the biggest difference to their teams I think it is between Mays and Mantle.

I thought the nation might never turn its lonely eyes to Joe DiMaggio again, but Chance stepped up to the plate. He had phenomenal stats and in my opinion is certainly in the league with any of the others mentioned.

Dimaggio is owner of one of the two most staggering stats in MLB history (in my humble opinion.) That being that with 361 HRs in his career, he only struck out 369 times. Mind boggling. FWIW, the other is that Babe Ruth hit more HRs than any team in the league twice.
