Time for Joe Torre to go
I know it is early in the season but i think it is time for a change. After going 9-14 for the month of April, losing 8 out of their last 9, dropping 5of 6 to boston, with a 7 game losing streak mixed in with that i have to think that George will be itching to make a move. Torre has had alot of success here but than again who would not with what he has been given to work with. I think it is about time to bring in a fresh face.

Joe will never "retire", not with that fat contract that is guaranteed. Like everyone else with fat contracts, let'm chase you out the door.

Indeed..... and Torre is so comfortable in his skin - so to speak - that he is willing to take that fall to collect the nest egg.

First of all, I love to see the Yankees struggle as much as the next guy but....
I have to disagree. I think that it is a combination of bad luck and a poorly put together team. First, the rotation was supposed to be Mussina, Pettite, Wang, Pavano, and whoever. Pretty decent looking, but you replace Mussina, Wang, and Pavano with Darrell Rasner, Chase Wright, Jeff Karstens and Kei Igawa, you will take a hit.
The problem lies with the makeup of the rotation Mussina is 38, Pettite is almost 35, and Pavano is 31 but has had some injuries over the years. As a GM you have to look and see that your 2 best pitchers have a lot of mileage on them and try to have some sort of plan B in case one or more go down. Nowadays, most team use AA for their young prospects and AAA is more for the older guys who have been up and down, and can fill in if need be. This team has stocks their AAA team which their young prospects and doesn't have those guys who have been ok major leaguers and can fill in for a few weeks as a 5th starter. They are just relying on unproven arms, which is fine if you are Washington or Kansas City, but with a 200 mil payroll. Come on!!!!
Torre should have the job as long as he wants it, he's earned it.

I definitely think Torre is around for as long as he wants to be. With salaries like the Yankees have, they shouldn't even need a manager anyway... lol

i hope that my prayers will finally be answered. i am tired of hearing how he is such a "great manager". if you ask me, with the players that George has given him to work with, he has greatly under achieved.

I agree...send him to Pittsburgh and we'll see what kind of manager he really is!

Like I said before you can't win without good pitching. All the sluggers in the world won't win you games without good pitching.

Exactly
George has brought him no solid young pitchers since Pettite first came up. He's overspent on over the hill talent...i.e. Clemens and Mussina now....Cone, Wells, Hideki Irabu, and others.
This team reminds me of some of the team in the 80's. Lots of over the hill guys who's best years are well behind them. Giambi will never be the hitter he was before Balco got busted, Jeter is at that age when non-juicing players start to decline, Matsui is old period, Damon has no arm and is past his prime, A-rod has never produced when it counted, Doug Mientkiewicz saw his best years in Minnesota.........George is constantly bringing in guys after their career year and paying them as though they've been putting up those numbers consistently.
That leaves two young players with promise...Cano and Melky.
If anyone should go it's Brian Cashman for giving Torre this old folks home of a team to work with.
