Aw, Spider, I have that one committed to memory. I was just trying to get fancier without forking out the big bucks (at one local store, I could pay $8.99 for a jar of sauce). Watched The Godfather the night before last, and Clemenza was making spaghetti--I think he called it Going to the Mattresses Sauce or something. He even gave a recipe, but I couldn't really follow it.

I dated a girl for awhile who made spaghetti sauce from scratch and it was fabulous, but I didn't pay attention to the recipe. I do make a pretty good sauce myself, but I use a jar of storebought as the base.

I like to make mine from scratch whenever I can.

major ingredients: plum tomatoes, tomatoe paste, garlic, basil, salt, olive oil, a pinch of sugar

Then if you want I would make the meatballs up, and then let them cook in the sauce. (I don't eat meat so I dont put them in, but my dad always said that is what makes it!)

12 skinned tomatoes chopped into chunks
    2 medium onions chopped
    2 cloves garlic chopped
    4 T. basil
    4 T. oregeno
    4-6 beef boullion cubes
    3 T. salt
    1/4 C. sugar
1 can tomato paste or more

Saute onions & garlic in small amount of olive oil for a few minutes. Add the rest and simmer for 1 hour or more. I make tons of this every summer from our garden & we can it in pint jars. Tastes great for home made pizza or dipping in bread sticks, too.

My mother makes hers with Red Wine. I'll see if I can get the recipe.

My mother(who is Sicilian) makes hers the same way Spider does.
I will smash your face into a car windshield and then take your mother, Dorothy Mantooth, out to a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!

Tell me about it, this morning, I woke up and I shit a squirrel, but what I can't get is the damn thing is still alive. So now, I've got a shit covered squirrel running around my office and I don't know what to name it.
