Citizenship Test

I have read on several occasions that fewer than a majority of Americans can actually pas this test. In fact, people always told me, "It's impossible! You can't pass it!"

Well, not to toot my own horn, but I passed it with a 91%, and thought that it was among the easiest tests I'd ever taken. I missed two of the questions kind of out of carelessness, the rest were legitimate misses.

There are 96 questions, but it does go fast.

Not sure what that says about me, but I'll hide behind that I'm only a one subject educator!

I was 20 of the first 20 questions when the website crashed. Most quesitons were really easy. To get citizenship it said you only had to get 56 correct, although I am sure all tests are much harder if you are not taking them in your native language.

I did not do as well on the altenative quiz that combined American historical trivia and pop culture where i only got 15 of 23 correct.

I can't imagine anyone failing the citizenship test. The real citizen test my wife took when she naturalized consisted of two parts. 1. Very simple written exam with questions taken directly from a 100 question study guide provided weeks in advance. 2. Oral interview consisting of a short five minute dialogue. During the final oral interview she was asked to write a simple sentence dictated to her...something like, " Soon the black car came."

We've never heard anyone ever fail the citizenship test. Once you finally reach that point it's nearly automatic approval. People usually fail out of the naturalization process for not meeting requirements or they give it up after years and years and years of waiting. We're not fans of an immigration amnesty program.*
