Nifong
?To the extent that I made judgments that ultimately proved to be incorrect, I apologize to the three students that were wrongly accused,? Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong said.

That's kinda half-assed.
No one ever really apologizes anymore. It's always "Sorry if anyone was offended" not "Sorry I said something stupid." Nifong actually does apologize for his "incorrect judgments" but I think that's a gross understatement.
You do the math..... I'll do the alfredo!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

"No one ever really apologizes anymore." Hey Imus met with the Rutgers basketball team last night and apologized for like the 5th time.
They met at the Governors mansion where the governor was hosting....The Gov missed the meeting because his trooper driver wrapped his Envoy around a guard rail and the he suffered some serious injuriees - broken leg, 12 busted ribs and a cracked vertebrae....and the SUV never flipped.
Gee was someone not wearing his seatbelt ?
Nifong was patronizing the Dookies. Obviously, his dastardly effort to lampoon the boys with doctored evidence will likely lead to lawsuits for gross negligence, if not criminal intent. I'll hazard a guess that with the national attention surrounding this incident, it's worth a $5 mil settlement each - -easily. even a Raliegh jury would send a nasty message for corrupting a case - a jury award could easily top $10 mil per.

Nice, no harm done. He won his re-election campaign. Thanks for the apology.

Remember, he faces charges from the state bar, and potentionally from the Duke boys, so it's not like he's gonna go out on a limb and proclaim his wrong doing.

Yes..... a jury selected from Raleigh would send a nasty message. Many North Carolinians are embarrassed by this -- want to make sure the nation doesn't think Nifong represents the general population of NC. (just when we thought it couldn't get any worse than Jesse Helms...)
However..... if a jury was selected from Durham.... Hmmm.... could be a different story.

You know what's scary? If the election was held again next month... I would venture to say he'd have a decent chance at winning again in Durham.

The three accused young men will exact their payback in civil court but the ripple effects of what Nifog wrought on America will be felt for a long time. It divided people along the lines of race and sex. It destroyed the dreams of every member on that team. It hurt family members, the school, and the community. He is a jackel just like Sharpton and Jackson.
