Just like the book thread, some are too good to lose. Got in a Kristofferson mood and always loved this song. It was especially good when I was single.
Loved it Ban! Never heard of them before (which makes no sense) but the song is a good one. I asked my buddies while camping last night if they ever heard of this band and everyone knew about them. We were all freshmen in 1987 and all listened to the same music. Not sure how I am the only one to have this escape me.
BTW- Since all threads are cool now, anyone who knows how, can merge this with the other if it seems worthwhile.
Camper Van Beethoven broke up not long after this time, and split into two bands. One was the Monks of Doom, but the other was the BIG band known as Cracker, which I'm sure you heard of. They had two big radio songs; one was called "Teen Angst" and the other called "Low."
I've been connecting dots of rock groups from the 70s and 80s. So many songs I recognize, but not which groups performed them. The latest CD I bought, Abba's greatest hits, has a damn fine collection of song writing.
"There was something in the air that night, the stars were bright, Fernando
They were shining there for you and me for liberty, Fernando
Though we never thought that we could lose, there's no regret
If I had to do the same again, I would my friend, Fernando"
"I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream, I have a dream
I'll cross the stream, I have a dream"
Wonderful stuff, showing ABBA was much more than "dancing queen".
