Bravo Zulu!
Bravo Zulu!
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from falling hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
My father was a WWII veteran and when I was a little kid, he always bought a paper poppy flower on Veterans Day. He died 50 years ago, and I have continued to make a contribution and wear the poppy every year in his memory. I also feel honored that my wedding is on the 100th anniversary of this holiday.

As I get a little older, the meaning of this holiday hits me a little harder. Younger kids/adults just don't realize what veterans day is all about. There are so many people in my own family that I never said thank you to before they died. I wish I would have known then that I was supposed to thank them and not just on Veterans day. At the time I didnt realize the great sacrifices that they made. They truely were great Americans.
Today I will make sure to contact all my family members to let them know that I am thankful for what they have done for our freedom.
Thank you to any veteran who may be reading this message board.

Happy Veteran's Day to my "band of brothers". And for the Jarheads out there - happy belated birthday!

Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.
