My friends and I graduated HS and moved to college right when they were coming out in the early 90's. After about 12-15 beers, we sounded like that when talking to each other, so he made perfect sense to us. I could then and still to this day, sing every word to most Pearl Jam songs (except for the ones I didn't like). It drives my wife nuts because she thinks I am making the lines up. But trust me, if you were a late teen or early 20-something in the early 90's who also drank a lot of beer, you would understand Vedder perfectly.
