    Default Pete Carroll to Seahawks

Let's see, first U Washington hires USC Offensive Coordinator Steve Sarkisian as Head Coach and OC and USC's Defensive Coordinator. Nick Holt as Assistant Head Coach/DC.

Now Washington's Seattle Seahawks lure Pete Carroll away from USC.

Clearly a shrewd conspiracy to break USC's strangle hold on West coast recruiting.

A Local radio host Alfred Williams who played for the Broncos says that Carrol is leaving to avoid the sanctions that are coming, because of Bush and McKnight getting paid.

Without question, Carroll can see the writing on the wall concerning upcoming sanctions - but I think that is only a small part of his decision.
Coach Carroll and Athletic Director Mike Garrett have never gotten along. Too many egos bumping into each other.
In Seattle, he will have complete control (and one heck of a salary) - and not have to worry about recruiting or the NCAA Compliance Committee.
He has done everything he can do at the college level but still has something to prove in the pros. Is he a better-than-.500 pro coach? Here is his chance to build a program to prove what he is capable of at that level. And he will do it in a town where the media and fans will be supportive. (I don't think Carroll would flourish on the east coast.)

    R.I.P. Cyrano and Roxanne.

Both the Seahawks and the Trojans will be worse teams after this move. Carroll is completely incapable of coaching in the pros. He had the best talent in the nation at USC, and they never lived up to their reputation.

This will be another case of a coach who was worshiped at hit college going to the pros and struggleing...3 years and Carroll will be back coaching in college again where he belongs. The two (nfl & college) are so completely seperate in terms of coaching styles, the jump is ver tough.

Flop, how can you say that USC & Carroll never lived up to their reputation?
He had a 97-19 career record there.
Granted, 9-4 last year was let down but he lost 11 players to the NFL with Mark Sanchez, who would have been a Sr. this year is leading the NJ Jets into the next round of the NFL playoffs.

    2001: 6-6
    2002:11-2
    2003:12-1
    2004:13-0
    2005:12-1
    2006:11-2
    2007:11-2
    2008:12-1
    2009: 9-4

    Total: 97-19

In every game from about 2003 on, USC had more talent on the field than the other team - Carroll is a great recruiter. But they lost games they should have never lost. I guess I shouldn't say the never lived up to their reputation, but I think they should ended the year at #1 more times than they did.

These two are the reason USC won and the same reason why they lost this year. Carroll wasn't the draw.
