UFC 125 has made a change to its main card. The new light heavyweight fight will feature America's Brandon Vera against Brazil's Thiago Silva.

Silva is 14-2 in mixed martial artst fights with a 5-2 record in the UFC. Vera is 11-5 in MMA fights with a 7-5 UFC record.

The Silva-Vera fight will now be part of the pay-per-view segment of the event.

The change was made because the Jose Aldo-Josh Grispi was changed due to Aldo's injury. Grispi will now fight Dustin Poirier in a preliminary card event.

The remaining main card events will be:

Lightweight Championship: American champion Frankie Edgar against American Gray Maynard

Middleweight event: American Chris Leben against American Brian Stann

Welterweight event: American Nate Diaz against South Korean Dong Hyun Kim

Lightweight event: Aerican Clay Guida against Japanese fighter Takanori Gom

UFC 125 takes place on New Years at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
