California Girls' Wrestling

Today is the first day of the Southern Regional CIF Girls' Wrestling Championships. From what I was told last night, over 400 girls are registered. I'll try to post results Sunday.

Not even close. I am talking about next year.

A very hurt neck (all the most important stuff is fine), and two concussions, means Reni won't be doing any contact until at least August. We will spend the time from when her neck heals up, till she can wrestle again, lifting lots of weights (bodybuilding long work outs to build some mass), tae kwan do (forms but no contact), rock climbing, swimming, hiking, allowing her to grow into her new body, put on some weight, and especially strengthen her neck and shoulders. She should be about 95-98. She'll start at 103. 103's in 3A Arizona will be probably be down next year. Plus with six divisions it gets watered down anyhow. The local HS wrestles an easy schedule. As an 80 pound 13 year old I suspect her record would be something like 28-10 this year in a fairly tough group. The varsity 103 now (ranked 5th) can beat her but not major her (when she was well). Reni can play TDs and beat the varsity 112 (a girl) giving up the weight.

Reni is kind of bummed today. We were supposed to be in Tulsa to wrestle Tulsa Nationals. She even got a seventh seed.

Sorry to hear that. Your plan for the immediate future sounds good for her physical condition and mental attitude. I'm sure that once she is cleared for contact, she'll be like a racehorse out of the gate and tougher than ever.
