Now that Christmas is over...

Did you get any cool wrestling-related gifts?

I received a copy of the new book "A Century of Penn State Wrestling" which has tons of photos and info about the first hundred years of the Nittany Lions' wrestling program. If you got a wrestling book, DVD or gear that you would recommend for the rest of us to put on our wish lists for next year, please weigh in here.

I got "The Silent Gladiators" and am at present a little over half way through it.

Thus far I think its been good, but not great. Hopping is obviously passionate about the sport, and the insider level of stuff that he provides has been really fun to read. I really enjoyed reading the stuff about the Sanderson/Fullhart rivalry, and especially the chapter on Saitiev.

Where it could have benefited though was from a very, very vigorous copy edit. I can understand some grammar mistakes slipping through but the fact that the Olympic weights were continually written incorrectly was kind of jarring.

Agree with JensenS's asessment of "Silent Gladiators" (I recently brought it for myself.) In addition to a thorough editing, the book would have benefitted from more technical descriptions of the moves various wrestlers use.
