"Win Win" movie

Apologies if this has been brought up before, but I didn't see anything about it.

There's a new movie coming out called "Win Win" about a high school wrestling coach (Paul Giamatti) and a star athlete (Alex Shaffer) he comes across. I was able to see a pre-screening of the movie and it was quite enjoyable.

It can't truly be called a wrestling movie since wrestling is more of the backdrop for the problems of the main characters, but it features some decent wrestling and uses more than a couple of cliches to portray the sport. Both the writer/directory and producer wrestled in New Jersey, and star Alex Schaffer wrestled in high school in New Jersey.

The movie is released by Fox Spotlight Pictures and opens in limited release March 18. A full release will likely depend on how well the movie does in its limited release. The film won at Sundance 2011 and has received positive early reviews.

When I saw the title of the thread I thought it would be a movie about Charlie Sheen. Seriously though, Paul Giamatti is one of the better actors around.

Numbers are good

Fox has got to be happy with the numbers and should start a wide roll out. Numbers the first week were over $22K per screen on 5 locations and holding through 23 screens this weekend. Big numbers (most films perform well at $5K - $10K per screen).

Yeah, I thought the numbers would be good. It was a hot ticket here in LA?although I already saw a free screening, I dragged a couple of friends to see it again with me, and it was a sold out theater. The audience seemed to enjoy it.

And a lot of people cringed audibly at some of the wrestling moves. Kind of funny what people think hurts, and what actually hurts when you're wrestling.
