The event features competition for FILA Cadet age athletes (born 1994-1996) in Freestyle and Greco-Roman. The champions in each weight class and style for the FILA Cadets qualifies to represent the United States at the 2011 FILA Cadet World Championships in Hungary, August 23-28.

The top three place winners at this event qualify for your state?s Cadet national teams (above the state limit) in the style in which you qualify. This is only for athletes born in 1995 or 1996. Athletes born in 1994 do not automatically qualify for their Cadet or Junior national team. Athletes must still adhere to all state policies and you qualify in the style in which you place. ASICS/Vaughan Junior & Cadet National Championships are in Fargo, N.D. from July 15-23.

Attractive wooden plaques awarded to the top three (3) place winners. Medals awarded to the 4th through 6th place winners in both the Greco-Roman and Men`s Freestyle Divisions. Outstanding Wrestler awarded in each event.

Coaching Requirements

All coaches that wish to gain access to the competition floor to coach athletes must have a current USA Wrestling Coaches Card. All USA Wrestling Coaches Membership Cards MUST be attained prior to the event, due to mandatory background checking.

Two certified coaches maximum allowed in each competitor`s corner. To videotape any match at mat side, the operator must be one of the two certified coaches in the corner. Only coaches with a current USAW Coaches Membership Card AND who are USAW NCEP certified are entitled to free admission.


Bracketing, Seeding, and Rules

FILA Cadet: Wrestlers from the same state will be separated. One pool will be used for brackets with fewer than six (6) competitors and two pools will be employed if there are six (6) or more entrants in any given weight class.Separation Criteria at FILA Cadet Nationals:

  • Level 1: Previous Cadet and above National Champion (Style)
  • Level 2: Previous Cadet and above National 2nd ? 8th (Style)
  • Level 3: Previous Cadet and above National 1st ? 3rd (OUT of style, not including folkstyle)
  • Level 4: Separation by state
At weigh-ins and registration, when you receive your weigh-in card and check that the level listed is correct. If it is not, be sure to tell the table workers and the problem will be resolved.
