What would be more beneficial to a first year wrestler; clinics or off season tournaments?

I want to get better. A lot of my problems come from not having the experience - or at least my dad and other coach says. Would going to freestyle tournaments benefit me more than going to wrestling clinics? Or should I do a clinic or two and a tournament or two and mix them up?

What do you think would be more beneficial for a first year wrestler and why?

If money is no object, I would say to go to the clinics and try to apply what you learned from them at tournaments. So, I would suggest you mix them up. But, if you can't afford the clinics, then going to the tournaments can't hurt. If that's what you have to do, then I would suggest video taping your matches so you can see what you did right or wrong.

it depends if want to learn more(well rounded) do clinics, if you consider yourself weak on your feet do freestyle. I do both, but if I had to pick I would do freestyle
