Thread: Sweep Double

    Default Sweep Double

So one of my wrestlers wanted me to refresh his memory on a sweep double he had learned at camp this summer. For whatever reason I've never seen this technique nor learned it.

Anybody with a video of this move or a description so I can help him out?

Hmm. I've heard of this move a few times but I have never actually seen it. I would guess, however, that basically you sweep across like a sweep single, except as you sweep, grab both legs. From there, you would probably just continue to circle around the back (finishing backside, as some call it) and he would fall over, and then you'd get the takedown. From there, even if he tried to sprawl you'd already be behind him, so he'd just fall flat.

I found a thread of Flo about it and a video on Flo (you'd have to be signed up to TW to watch it, though). The thread might not help you that much but I supposed it would be better than nothing.

    Am I cool now?

Not sure if you have Dan Gables Advanced DVD but he teaches the Sweep Double or as he calls it "The Sweet Double, because it loves so sweet" Can't find any clips for it though, sorry

Not sure if this is it as I've never even heard of a sweep double, but either way it seems useful:

    Hope this helps.

idk if it helps, but we do one in practice where u shoot the sweep, and its in the case that the opponet puts his leg on ur other side (so not inbetween ur legs, and moved it to the other side of ur body rather than infront of u) and then u just grab the other knee and run through them, some people like pulling the knee and running through but personaly i likeblocking his knee with mine on the other side of his leg that is across his body with like a side step type thing, srry if its not descriptive or what ur looking for
