I hate cutting wieght is it really a big deal if my body has more fat and less muscle than others in my wieght class

Re: making weight
It is a big deal if you want a better chance against your opponent. If not then you will get out muscled. You want to be the best you can be in the weight class. Don't you?

Re: making weight
I'm sure it's not easy to drop weight when needed but if its fat as you mention, why would you not want to get rid of it? You'll perform much better for not carrying the excess and you should become stronger as you work it off, too.

Re: making weight
There is a difference between cutting weight and being at a healthy weight. I personally would rather see a wrestler comfortable in his body with good technique. If you are at a healthy body-fat percentage but are having to go to extremes to make your wrestling weight, you are in the wrong class. If, on the other hand, you are looking for an excuse to hang on to Big Macs and Fries during the season, I don't think you will get a lot of support here.

well not neccessarily. im no expert on the matter but i wrestle several guys on my team who are way more ripped than i am but ever time we wrestle i still pull the win. wrestling is no matter of who is the strongest or the fastest (though they help alot). the truth is that the victorious wrestlers are the smarter wrestlers. the ones that are better at attacking or counter acting other wrestlers. muscle is just a plus to have.

Re: making weight
I remember this one kid from a wrestling camp I went to. He had no muscle on him, and his nickname was "Beanpole". He was actually a state place winner, though, which shows it's not all muscle.

I'm going to guess he probably knew how to wrestle, which is a little more useful than being "ripped".
