It's American Olympic Trial week. For many athletes this is the culmination of a lifetime dedicated to wrestling.

The Olympics is the ultimate as far as wrestling is concerned. Americans just happen to wrestle a different style b/f college. You know what he meant, don't try to be difficult

i know, but in america, it is much different. athletes in college arent training for the olympics, nor do they really even think about them. ncaas are what the athletes train for and dream about in college, not the olympics.

Right on. It's true all the college guys think and train folk. Which gets way too much importance. We lack technical skilled innovative creative wrestlers like the Russians and have wrestlers that win with their physical attributes. The only place to train full time free is the OTC and almost all those guys are post college, by then it is to late.

What Cejudo is doing is the best way to go. Ditch folk. I hope he beats Abas.

If you look at all the top guys from college throughout the years in America (Gable, Smith, Abas, Sanderson, Herbert, Askren, etc.) they have made the transition fine.

Gable, Smith and Sanderson were all unique each in their own way. They are exceptions to the rule.

The problem for guys like Cejudo is that they are coached by ex college wrestlers who have no idea how to develop freestylers from youth to Olympics.

Big is right! Only Russians know how to wrestle.

Come on guys. Most of the the past and some current NCAA champions compete at the team trials. They train their whole lives to be the best in the world at the most prestigious tournament. How do you do that, you win the Olympics.

hey, i think they crossover just fine, but up until they graduate, they have trained their whole lives for the ncaa's. most wrestlers train to win state more years than an olympic title. in america, a 20 year old kid beleives that an ncaa title is more important than any olympic medal at that moment in their life.
