If Olympics were held in Israel I am sure Iranians would stay home too.
But they aren't held in Israel. They are held in other places, and Iranians still refuse to wresle the Israeli's, erego making the Olympics a religious/political spectacle. The U.S. didn't force anybody to talk about staying home in 1980, nor did they alter the competition as it occurred. Nobody else's Olympic experience was hurt by the U.S. staying home.
