I know it is very un-American for the government to support amateur athletes. What do people think about Russia doing so?

I think it's good. Until our wrestlers can make a decent living from wrestling we'll always be right were we are.

If they're getting paid wouldn't that make them professional athletes?

Don't we already have money prizes at most International tournaments?

Professional vs. Amateur is an American thing. There is no difference between the two in Russia if you have the right sponsors

I don't think it makes a difference anymore. Pros are playing in the Olympics in just about every sport - tennis, basketball, baseball, hockey, etc. You know much those retard snowboarders are making in endorsements?
