Thread: Metcalf/Garcia exhibition

    Default Metcalf/Garcia exhibition

Apparently these two will go at it at the Iowa/Ok State dual. They could well be wrestling off for an Olympic spot at the qualifiers. Haislan Garcia is generally considered Canada's best wrestler, he recently won the Olympic trials with a fall and a 10-0 victory in the finals.

Garcia has the better international record with a 5th place finish at worlds and several international medals. Metcalf looked like he took a big step up with his recent victory at the Olympic test event. Here's hoping it's a more exciting match then their previous one at Pan Ams, where Garcia won on clinches.

Not much of an exciting bout, still interesting to see because they will determine who can go to the Olympics at 66kg soon (the Cuban already qualified). It's clear that Metcalf's defense/positioning has improved a great deal based on this match and especially based on his (fairly dominating) win over Hasanov a few weeks ago.
