burroughs has a similar agressive style to goudarzi although not as good a wrestler, goudarzi was all over geduev till the russians pulled a fast one on the throw.

Big night for the Americans last night as they won 5 out of the 7 matches. Will be very interested to watch these when they pop up over on Flo.

This group is the one that gets us back into consistent world medal contention. I said a while ago that Burrough's style of attack was the solution to the Russian style and I'm glad to see that at least for this one match I was right. With experience this guy will win multiple world medals, and possibly titles, provided the knee holds up. I feel basically the same for Metcalf, guy works so hard at it that success seemingly has to come eventually.
I have been discouraged with our wrestling at the world level for some time now, so much to the point where I basically stopped watching. Perhaps now I can get back into it. I know, it's a pretty fair-weather fan attitude to have, but the lack of success combined with multiple $hitty and confusing rule changes really turned me off. I do think that these guys we have now are the best group we have had in a while.
Just seen mecalf's match, gadhziev was done over a bit, should've won the clinch in the first then he would have won in 2. Metcalf started off with a double then gadhziev had his leg whilst metcalf was trying for back points then ended up on his back and they gave him the point was just bs imo. Also varner's foot was out before he hit a throw on akhmedov in the 3rd period should have been 1-1 not 4-1.

I think this is a great result for our team even if it is just an exhibition. The Russians were there to win and they didn't.
Great glimpse of future talent, but I'm beginning to wonder if Jake Herbert has peaked. Just hasn't gotten it done since getting 2nd at Worlds.
PS Lots of people talking about a Cael comeback. No truth in that right?
Go Hawkeyes.
that clinch with metcalf an gadzhiev was bs, but what can you do, huge win for burroughs, never going to underestimate him again
