Lester won by pin in the finals. Videos up anywhere?
Tough tournament... 84 kg definding world champ goes down in the semis, Olympic Champ Minguzzi gets pinned in the 96 kg finals, Joe Warren goes 0-2.
Elis Guri - great come back after disappearing after the 2008 Olympics - beating Ruiz in the semis and pinning Minguzzi in the finals.

Schultz bros & Khadartsev bros.

Damn! I wanted to see that fall but USA wrestling didn't save the 96 kg final.
Greco always seems to have a couple of guys that just come out of nowhere to win worlds/Olympics, I guess Minguzzi and Marinov are great examples. Win the gold medal but can't win the Schultz.
Looking at the FS brackets, Canada has a good chance to win some medals if they wrestle well. Go Canada!
PS Not off to a good start though, with Macdonald losing to JP Oconnor. I know JP is a great wrestler, but Evan used to be top 10 in the world and should be beating him IMO.
Last edited by arm-spin; 02-04-2011 at 12:14 PM. Reason: Macdonald lost
Burk and Adamson lost at 84... Adamson got screwed on a crotch lift call IMO that would have won him the period. Al-Rekabi beating Brent Jones and gets reversed to his back for the fall with a second left!!!
At least Gentry, Garcia and Pineda are still on the winning side. This is getting too frustrating, I'm going to go work out, hope to see those three still in the hunt when I get back.
Watching again....
Canadian results on the "B" side... Weicker and Macdonald losing wild, high-scoring matches to Ware and a Mongolian respectively (E-Mac pinned after winning the first period 8-4). Adamson loses a close one to Hasseman, he wrestled well IMo- another close call going against him. Al-Rakabi beats Sandhu with a second period throw and a last-second 3rd period score. Bhullar and Poland in the 3rd and the video cut out, not sure who won that one.
Garcia and Gentry in the semis. If I'm still around for them I might do play-by-play, if not hopefully someone else will. Some great wrestling is going on, very few boring matches that I've seen. I highly reccomend people watch these.
