I am not a big fan of the new rules, but by far the worst part is the way they decide tied periods. What is wrong with having a tied period?
If after three periods the match is still tied, then go to some silly tiebreaker.
I hope they can change this rule before the Olympics.
I would hate to see a Olympic final decided 1-1, 1-1 where the champion wins two periods becasue of scoring last point. Or worse, seeing the posturing of trying to lock up a clinch.

Agreed. I have no stats, but it seems to me that the wrestler that gets to clinch the leg wins most of the time. It's a shame that it comes down to the flip of a coin.

I think I would be more OK with the coin flip if they let the periods remain tied then after three periods if it is still tied do the coin flip / leg clinch thing or last point scored.

I bet Mo agrees with you! It is a ridiculous set up. What kind of schmo CAN'T get a take down when give the leg? I know I'm biased, but I have no doubt that Mo will be on the world team this year, and the Olympic team next year.
