Overall, very dissapointing day for Russia. Only one bronze medal today. Popov was eliminated in the quarters and I heard Anunchin popped his ribs early in and was out? These guys were our last chance to get up in the standings and they didn't come out. I had pretty high hopes for Vachadze after winning Euros.

Overall, very dissapointing tournament for Russia in Greco. Only 1 gold and 2 bronze. We had expected so much more than this. We came in with a very strong team and failed. There were a bunch of top guys we had coming in that had horrible outcomes. We need to get back on track fast and get back on top. A bunch of these guys have got alot to work on when they get back home so that they can come out winning again as soon as possible. We need to establish our Greco-Roman team and wrestlers as the best in the world. Hopefully next year, we are much stronger and come out on top with the gold and the team title. We should since Worlds are being held in Russia next year, so we can't dissapoint.

    Can you justify your words?
I watched the final, and i did not see any proof of Mansurov being "outpowered". After all, Georgian could not take a single point in the first two rounds, what makes you think he would be able to do it in the third?

Head coach Gogi Koguashvili has a different view. He said: Look, none of the wrestlers who had beaten our guys could become a champ. Because they used up their energy against the Russians.

I don't know if Mansurov was overpowered or not, but it was a pretty chintzy leg foul call, unless they warned him really clearly before assessing a penalty.

I agree with grecowrestler13, I bet head will roll in Russia over this tournament... although half the greco champs seem to come out of nowhere every year. Did the 74 and 96 kg champs have any significant credentials before they won it all this year?

    They don't come from nowhere.
Chebi of Turkey placed 3rd at the 2009 euros. In the past, he was jr. euro champ and jr. world medalist.
Kish of Hungary - similar: 3rd at the 2007 sr. euros; euro champ and world medalist in his jr. years.

I don't see how that would make us or any of the team members any more happier or feel better. Half of the team didn't even medal anyway. The only champ for us was Albiev. Mishin didn't win a single match.

Not sure if the referees were paid off or not, but a pretty weak call. Announcers seemed to think they were scoring an exposure point- not sure. Foot came up a bit to block- maybe? 1:06 pt of this video.
