2009 World Championships: 60/84/96 KG Greco Discussion
Draws are out for tomorrow...
Davis has a pig tail match with the guy from France down at the bottom of the bracket. Albiev (who I'm really excited to see again) is up on the top side.
Betts is on the top half of the bracket, he has the Finn in the first round and he is in the same quarter of the bracket as Mishin.
RC has a pig tail with Ozden from Turkey, and is in the same quarter with Khustov and Nozadze (who would wrestle each other in the second round).

Albiev, Mishin, and Khustov are taking gold. I'm calling it right now. Well definetly Khustov and Albiev for sure if not Mishin(I have a couple of qualms about Mishin for some reason). I'm very excited to watch these guys tomorrow. Should be a great day of wrestling!

It is kind of funny how the draw worked that it basically put Russia's Murderer's Row all on the same day. All the Russians are good obviously, but these three are on a different level.
Should be as you said a lot of fun to watch.
I can't speak for you, but the fact that Albiev and Khustov won the Olympics without giving up a point last year and Mishin didn't would make me like them (Albiev and Khustov) more here.

Yea I agree. I believe Khustov and Albiev can run through every single one of their opponents for the gold without breaking a sweat, although I questioned Mishin after last years loss. But I'm positive Mishin has improved greatly since last year. He's won Euros and Nationals convincingly, so I'm positive he should medal.

Round of 12
Re: 2009 World Championships: 60/84/96 KG Greco Discussion
All 3 Iranians will compete in their first World Championship but they can ! but I think AliAkbari has more chance. Akhlaghi has a tough draw, Russia (no matter who) in the first round is the toughest possible draw for an Iranian !

Just an FYI,
I'll be around early for the beginning of the tournament like I have been for all the days so far, but I'll have to roll out for a few hours probably around the time of the quarters, semi's and possibly some of the repechage rounds.
Any help posting results (for any matches) that anyone wants to provide tomorrow since I won't be here the whole time would be very much appreciated.

Do you know of any site that shows the prelim matches? Universal Sports only shows the bronze and gold medal matches live.

Re: 2009 World Championships: 60/84/96 KG Greco Discussion
FloWrestling.org has had an excellent live audio broadcast through out the week.
While they tend to focus on the US guys they will pay attention to a lot of the International guys as well especially those considered the "favorites" in the weight. I've been utilizing their broadcast along with paying close attention to the brackets in order to post my results so far during the week.
TheMat.com has also been providing live text updates courtesy of our own DartShark and Craig Sesker.

I love Khustov, I hope he wins. He's the new Gaber, lifts people like it's nothing.
Based on my very uninformed observation 96 seems like the toughest weight (ie it actually has names I recognize in the bracket).
