Any thoughts on who will get this?

I could see them going after one of the more NAME assistant coaches around the country who are looking to get a head job. For some reason the name Mark Branch came to mind, don't know if he'd be willing to leave OK State for this job, but he's proven himself capabale as an assistant, and would likely be a good hire for the program.

Don't really see this being a "within the family" hire.

What about Tim Hartung?

I had thought about him too, but he's only been at Iowa State for one year, and they've got something good going on there. Wasn't sure if he'd be quite as restless to leave as some others.

I could have sworn I read or heard an interview where Hartung talked about the rigors of a head coaching job possibly being too much, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to do that. I only remember because he said he wasn't sure if he wanted to even be an assistant for a long time, and I thought "crap I don't want to lose him." Am I insane or does anyone else remember that?

Bono already has the UTC job, I mean I guess he could leave there, but I think he's got a better deal at UTC, than he would inherit at Purdue.

If your imagining it - we both are. I remember reading the same thing. It was in an article so who knows what else he said that might have mitigated it? I do know that is the impression the reporter conveyed (at least by my memory)

Hartung would make a great head coach - I just don't see him leaving ISU just yet.
