Elsewhere the New England Patriots locked up Kent State?s heavyweight wrestler Jermail Porter. Nobody knows where they?ll try to play him (Porter once said guard and tackle were potential destinations), and it?s entirely possible that Belichick signed him to scare the shit out of the other 20 or so rookies coming to mini-camp.

Great news for wrestling, for sure! Porter is definitely a stud. Gotta think that Stephen Neal helped the NFL rediscover the value in hiring athletic big men of the mat, just like the good old days of wrestling champs-turned-football stars of the past, like NCAA hwt champs Jim Nance and Sherwyn Thorson in the 1960s, and countless others in the 1970s, 80s and since.

Don't forget Carlton Haselrig. 6X NCAA champ that did not play college ball. He became an All-Pro lineman with the Steelers. I am pretty sure Neal has never been named All-Pro.
