I doubt any ref would offer up an apology without reviewing the tape first. After rewinding it numerous times, looks like the clock expired just as he came upright. In that situation someone is counting down the clock for the ref so there is no need to watch it. No. 2 ref made no attempt to correct No. 1. The call stands in my eyes.
The ESPN clock is not the official clock and it sometimes off by a second or two.
