Default Rutgers gets shut out by Ohio State

This isn't high school anymore Mr. Goodale:

    Rutgers At Ohio State Results:

    125 ? Nikko Triggas (OSU:2-2) pinned Ryan Fisklin (RU), 6:18; 37-0
    133 ? Reece Humphrey (OSU:4-0) dec. Dan Hilt (RU), 8-2; 3-0
    141 ? No. 3 J Jaggers (OSU:4-0) dec. No. 20 Steve Adamscik (RU), 5-2; 6-0
    149 ? No. 4 Lance Palmer (OSU:2-1) pinned Spencer Kent (RU), fall 4:42; 12-0
    157 ? Jason Johnstone (OSU:2-2) dec. Chris Norell (RU), 10-3; 15-0
    165 ? Robel Campbell (OSU:0-4) dec. Matt Rigogliosa (RU), 6-5; 18-0
    174 ? Alex Picazo (OSU:2-1) dec. Mike Whalen (RU), 6-1; 21-0
    184 ? No. 4 Mike Pucillo (OSU:3-0) mdec. Keith Dobish (RU), 16-4; 25-0
    197 ? John Weakley (OSU:1-1) dec. Lamar Brown (RU), 10-4; 28-0
    HWT ? No. 4 J.D. Bergman (OSU:4-0) dec. DJ Russo (RU), 11-5; 31-0

125 has a NJ state champ I believe. So what? He gets pinned.

Time for you to go back to school and get your PhD. You can room with Winston when he comes in next year.

ps: Nikko Triggas was a California state champ, so he's pretty good too.

Yes, Triggas was one of the top recruits in the country, certainly at that weight class.

But that doesn't change the fact that Rutgers probably expected to win a couple.

Not a bad match by the Rutgers heavyweight though. Would have thought Bergman would stick him. Too much pizza perhaps !

looking at the scores it looks like the only match that was even close was 165

Maybe to few "Fat Mojo"s from the Rutgers grease trucks.

That's right, one of the specialty sandwiches offered from the infamous Rutgers grease trucks is the....FAT MOJO !

Yep. Sponseller is still out with the broken hand. Though he expected to be back around now, the discussion is whether he should go ahead and be red-shirted even if he is the best 165 on the roster.

The most entertaining match of the night was 197 by a long shot. Weakley hit a beauty of a lateral in the second, and there were a few really nice scrambles for big guys. Weakley's blast double in the first was as quick as I've seen in a big guy for quite a while.

I too was impressed with the hwt for Rutgers. Bergman was trying to muscle him into tie ups he didn't want and he did a good job neutralizing Bergman's greco background.

I've seen two Triggas matches so far this year. Rutgers and the wrestle offs. Both ended with Triggas having a figure four on his opponenets head after running a chicken wing over. On their feet Triggas looked a lot stronger than the Rutgers kid. He just basically muscled the kid around the mat while he looked for his throws.

I don't think anyone saw the win by Robel Campbell coming at 165. I'm sure Rutgers came in expecting a win there and probably thought they might get at least one more at 197.

    therick,

Did you feel like Adamcik at 141 is an AA material at all? He is Rutgers' best hope at an AA this year it seems. He is ranked top 20 and he made the finals at the first two tournaments of the season. He was 7th last year at University Nationals.
