It seems in the last couple years I don't hear as much about high school wrestlers from New York. I saw on the other forum they had zero junior AAs in either style at Fargo. They going through a cold spell?

Seems that NY kids go under the radar in general as they don't get much out of state competition (I think there is some sort of rule by the state on that, not sure what the specifics are though). But zero AA's is not good. Out here in western NY haven't observed a drastic drop in the talent and there are a few guys that have the potential to be quality at the next level and Paddock is definitely one of these, but definitely no "sure things" as of late a la Nickerson or J. Jantzen. So yes, maybe a bit of an off-year talent wise. I think the next generation of kids out here (current junior high and younger) will be very, very tough as more and more youth clubs are forming and the older clubs are beginning to become more experienced and successful in terms of national competition and exposure. At the sectional tournament this year it seemed that the younger kids from these clubs enjoyed more success than usual over the older boys and this is the group that I think will make some noise when they get older.

I think Brands will love this kid, busts his ass for everything he gets like his brother(s) but I think with more upside/potential for the college level. I think the Paddock parents should be sent to some facility somewhere and just breed wrestling babies full-time.

Is this the Paddock brother that had the major injury?

)No. That was his younger brother (1 year younger I believe).

Ah ok... Did he ever end up wrestling or were the injuries too severe? Was a pretty horrific accident, IIRC Ian took a year off school to come back and be with his brother. Stand up guy right there

Actually, he's back, and wrestling at a pretty high level. Somewhat of a miracle type deal I guess.
