I am frustrated that most matches, neither Alton even tries to ride. I view top as the best way to balance energy expenditure without stalling. I think DA would look great in the 7th minute if he were picking up a little more ride time instead of of conceding the escape so early. It would help AA as well, but he needs to sort more out, as mentioned.

I know what its like getting yourself too jacked up for matches and then burning out before you should. I can understand DA gassing when he sucked to 141. Thats brutal when you cut too much or cant do it the right way. I remember watching Slaton against Fanthorpe in the dual when he got down to 133, and that was gut wrenching to watch.

I was just wondering as it does seem that at least AA gasses quite a bit. And DA looked like he gassed against St John this year too. If they could keep high energy for 7 minutes I think they win a title one year as much as I hate to say it. They are very talented. And I agree Vais, maybe not ALL the tools, but definitely enough.

I could easily see either/both Altons winning NCAA titles. To do so, they have to take it up to another level. At this point DA seems closer than AA. Both have the tools in my opinion, but you have to have more than the tools to win it all. Time will tell how it plays out. If they put it together they could be multiple NCAA champs. But, how many guys have had the tools but not made it. It takes something extra too.

I think DA has made some real progress on riding since the start of his FR year. I haven't seen that with AA so far against a good guy.

As others have mentioned, the way you wrestle has a lot to do with how tired you get. Not everyone has the physical tools to go balls-out for 7 straight minutes. Assuming the Alton boys don't have training or weight cutting issues, they might need to look at how they are wrestling their matches. It is possible to wrestle aggressively and still stay relatively relaxed, but it's a skill that doesn't come naturally to everyone.

Too right Tom. Andrew frustrates the hell out of me because he has so much potential but seems to lack that extra something, at least right now. Hopefully that changes come tournament time.

Flop--Are you suggesting that we're supposed to stay on topic? Man, you're tough!! I'd have to read back to know how we even got on to the Altons on this thread.

OK. I think Evans has Kokesh's number and I would rank him ahead of Kokesh. But in terms of quality wrestlers I don't think there's a lot of difference between the 2. [Not just between them, but between all of the top 7 or so at 174]
