Judging from the other boards I have a feeling that this may be the first year I remember where there's a real shortage and even getting reasonably priced tickets outside the venue will be tough to come by. Lots of buyers, very few sellers...
It sounds like there are a lot of scalpers on the internet with greatly increased prices. I wonder if anyone knows how that came about? I know PSU requested over 900 (people that actually paid in advance) and only got around 500. It seems a shame that a lot of loyal fans that have gone to NCAA's every year for years can't get tickets, but somehow scalpers have them (not to attend, but just to make a profit!).
How many got sold last March? Is it a certain # or % that gets released in advance?
It most definitely is a shame! Just like with any other event ticket buyers swooped in and took a bunch of tickets. Now on stub hub and other sites they are at least double face value and more. And yes, going to Nationals every year and then having to deal with tickets this year like this is just terrible. Whats worse is people that are going for the first time and bragging out getting tickets. I love that more people are interested in going, but for goodness sakes you dont have to rub it in. There should be a points system or something set up by the NCAA for this stuff. Ha, ok just ranting now.
Is this a good sign that a lot of wrestling fans wanted to go in Philly, so tickets were hard to get? Or that there is a stronger network of ticket resellers there, so they weren't initially bought by wrestling fans?
I'd think the St. Louis resellers would dominate that category because the have seen years of sellouts, so they know their tickets will sell.
This entire process in DSM makes me want to puke! I have been attending NCAA's since 1997 without ticket trouble. Now they bring this to DSM which is 2 hrs from my house and can't find reasonable tickets. I want this to be in St. Louis every year because since 1997 no place is better for the event in my opinion. DSM is going to be an absolute mad house come March 20th. Man I am pumped for NCAA's but so pissed about the epic failure of having it in DSM.
